Born in Laramie, Wyoming, Kevin Shipp and his family moved to Falls Church, Virginia where he spent most of his life. He put himself through college using college loans, working during summers and hitchhiking to and from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Later, he earned a Master’s level degree in forensic psychophysiology and the detection of deception from the Department of Defense Academy for Credibility Assessment.

Shipp held several sensitive positions in the CIA including working as a protective agent for the Director of the CIA, team leader for high risk protective operations, counterintelligence investigator, internal staff security investigator and polygraph examiner.

He currently lives on a Southern Georgia farm with his wife Sue; writing as a freelance journalist and operating his company Ascent Protection, Training and Intelligence (APTI), LLC. APTI provides consulting services for anti terrorism, executive protection, corporate security and global contract management. In their spare time, his wife Sue engages in the challenge of teaching him how to be a farmer.
